The M-65 Field Jacket was first issued to the US Military in 1965, at the start of the Vietnam War. This version improved on previous military field coats adding further functionality with a tucked in hood, added wind resistance, a removable interior liner, and extra pockets. Not only was the M-65 popular with service members, it became part of the cultural lexicon, appearing in various movies as well seen on celebrities and counter-culture icons.
Iron Heart's IHM-42-IND is a very special, limited edition version of the M65. This version is made of a 16oz selvedge denim that's been hand-dyed natural indigo in Tokushima, Japan. Using natural indigo is a very labor intensive process, thus more limited - only 90 are available outside of Japan. While natural indigo takes longer to wear through, once it does it results in a unique high contrast fade.
This version stays true to the original, with select modifications for improvement. This jacket has leather drawstrings and YKK zippers, while the collar and cuff feature an 8-wale corduroy lining. The collar also has a pocket with a hidden polyester hood.
